Non-Executive Director/Chair, York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management LLP

Recruitment

Dear colleague,

Welcome to York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and thank you for your interest in the opportunity to join our Board as a Non-Executive Director and as Chair of our wholly owned subsidiary York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM), which provides specialist services to our eight hospital sites.

I recently joined the Trust as Chair, attracted by the team’s energy, enthusiasm and commitment, and at a time when we are embarking on the next phase of our improvement journey.

We are a busy and complex organisation with 127,000 A&E attendances annually, as well as performing over 60,000 operations and procedures, and as part of the Humber and North Yorkshire ICB we play a key role in the wider health and care system.

We are now seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Director to our dynamic and developing Board, and to chair our wholly owned subsidiary YTHFM LLP, focused on promoting and fostering close partnership working with the Trust to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and cost-effective Estates and Facilities Management services.

Our board benefits from experience gained across a wide range of sectors including private, public and voluntary; and for this role we are hoping to attract individuals from a similarly broad range of backgrounds.  Key experience for this role will be a leadership role in complex commercial or service providing organisations.  We also look for the ability to demonstrate compassion for our staff and those we serve, promoting the highest standards of integrity and corporate governance, and offering independent challenge and support.  It is a role offering significant intellectual challenge and stimulation, and the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way to the lives of many.

Within this website you will find further information about this exciting opportunity and more about who we are. If you recognise yourself in our vision, beliefs, role description and person specification, we very much look forward to hearing from you.

I would also like to invite you to join me and other leaders at the Trust on a webinar 17:00-18:00 on 9th January where we will tell you about the journey York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals is on, explain what the NED and Chair role requires, and answer your questions.  If this is of interest, please email with your details to Sophie.pringle@gatenbysanderson.com

Best wishes

Martin Barkley
